"I learned at a very young age how fragile life is. When I was 15 years old I found out I had a brain tumor. The doctors said I had a very small chance that I could outlive it. The only alternative was to get on a long waiting list for open face surgery in hopes of removing it. I guess the first blessing happened on my 16th birthday, when the surgery was scheduled. I found out shortly after waking from the surgery that they went into the palette of the roof of my mouth instead of opening up my entire face. I guess you could say that was the second blessing. But the real blessing was that I overcame it completely and I survived something that most people never live through. I was close to death and I escaped it, and now I celebrate life because of it.

I wanted to be free. After this literal escape from death, I had some challenges at home and left at a very young age to spend my teenage years literally on the streets. I started with a hitchhiking tour all through Canada. Essentially I was homeless, sleeping on rooftops and under bridges and free. I met tons of interesting people, and experienced life to the fullest. Surviving the death sentence of a brain tumor was like defying death. I felt like the walking dead. I wasn’t supposed to be here. The doctors had told me there was no hope. But here I was, alive and breathing and being so free to live my life. When you live on the streets, you really appreciate just being alive. On the streets, you don’t have first or last names. So they started to call me Zombie, a person who is living but so close to death.”

I’m going through random junk on Tumblr and I come across a few different posts about how vampires can’t be asexual because reasons. Well shoot. What am I going to do with all this coffin and bat themed clothing/house decor/jewelry?

wait what-?

Why can’t a vampire be asexual? I mean i know in most lore and legends, vampires need to lure their victims in in order to feed. So they are often sexualized in stories so that they could get humans to lower their guard and get close to them for that bite. Plus vampires did represent the social fears of the time era they were created in. (basically they were sex monsters in an era of where chastity was valued. So yeah, on the surface i can see why people would say vampires can’t be asexual because they are the embodiment of lust.)

But that doesn’t mean anything! This is the modern era people, we can write what we want. Vampires can be asexual, after all they are similar to humans when it comes to emotions and (in most cases) appearance. They can use their charm and flirt with humans in order to feed off them but that doesn’t mean they have to develop sexual feelings towards them.

Honestly, it would be interesting to see an asexual vampire in a story someday. If the vampire didn’t want to romance humans into bed, they could still feed in other ways. Also, even if they don’t want to have sex, they could still do it for the benefit of their lover if the two characters were romantically together. (Asexuality- to summarize- is when someone doesn’t want to have sex in relationship. They can still fall in love but yeah, main thing- they do not want to have sex. Some Asexuals do have sex but its to please their partner. so it does happen even tho they are not fond of it.)

So yeah. If vampires today can be the “bad-boy” boyfriend in many teenage girl’s dreams, bi-sexual or even pansexual - why can’t they also be asexual?

"Ken Hultgren lived a short but very productive life.

He started his career in 1936 at Disney , where he eventually became an animator on the short film Farmyard Symphony. Hultgren then moved to the Bambi unit, where he did character design and animation. As you can see in these two model sheets, he was a very gifted draughtsman.

Hultgren put out a great book in 1950 called The Art of Animal Drawing.

Early on as an art student in Germany I found it quite difficult to draw animals at the zoo.  When I got my hands on a copy of this book and flipped through the pages several light bulbs went off.” — Andreas Deja

In case you didn’t know, you can read The Art of Animal Drawing online, as well as many other animation and art books. Just check my resource page.

Gaaah!! I sprained my drawing hand! Dammit, I can’t draw anything today without it hurting. Gotta lay off it for a bit.

Dammit, the moment I realize I can’t use my wrist for the day, I have a huge urge to draw something. *sigh*

Welp, that just leaves tumblr and video games with one hand then. This’ll be interesting.
